Before installation

Four things your installer will assess.

  1. 01

    Electrical supply

    Confirm whether the property has a 230 V single-phase or compatible 400 V three-phase electrical supply.

  2. 02

    Available capacity

Review the home’s existing electrical load to determine an appropriate charger operating current.

  3. 03

    Vehicle capability

Check the maximum AC charging rate supported by the vehicle’s onboard charger.

  4. 04

    Charger position

Select a ventilated mounting position that keeps the vehicle comfortably within reach of the charging cable.

Professional installation required

Charger selection, wiring, circuit protection and final output should be confirmed by an appropriately licensed electrician.

Contact iStore
01 Which iStore EV charger is right for my home?

The 7.4 kW model is designed for a 230 V single-phase supply, while the 22 kW model requires a compatible 400 V three-phase supply. Your installer should also check your available electrical capacity and the maximum AC charging rate supported by your vehicle.

02 Is the charger compatible with my electric vehicle?

iStore EV chargers use a tethered Type 2 AC charging connector, the standard connection used by most current electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in Australia. Always confirm your vehicle’s connection type and onboard AC charging capability.

03 Can I charge my EV using excess solar energy?

Yes. Solar charging can be enabled when the property has a compatible iStore inverter and smart meter connected to the iStore portal, together with an active internet connection. The system can then use available surplus solar energy to help charge the vehicle.

04 What does dynamic load balancing do?

Dynamic load balancing monitors the electricity being used by the home and adjusts the charger’s output accordingly. This helps the charger operate within the property’s available electrical capacity when other high-demand appliances are running.

05 Can I control and monitor charging through an app?

Yes. Once connected and configured, the app allows you to remotely control the charger, review charging history and set the charger’s maximum operating current. Available functions depend on the completed system configuration.

06 Can the iStore EV charger be installed outdoors?

The charger enclosure is rated IP65, with the socket rated IP55. It must still be installed in an appropriate, well-ventilated location and positioned according to the installation manual. Water should never be sprayed directly onto the charger or handle.

07 Does the charger require professional installation?

Yes. The charger must be permanently wired, correctly grounded and installed with appropriate circuit protection. Supply capacity, cable sizing, voltage drop and local electrical requirements should be assessed by an appropriately licensed electrician.

08 How long is the charging cable?

Both iStore models include a 7 metre tethered charging cable. The charger should be positioned so the vehicle can be reached comfortably without stretching the cable or creating a trip hazard. Extension leads and conversion adaptors must not be used.
